Red Ladybugs
Dear Red Ladybugs’ Parents,
Welcome to our class room! Our room consists of eight 12-24 month olds and three teachers. We offer many different mediums for our children to learn – movement, singing, art/sensory, reading, talking, and play. We know that children already have special interests at a very young age, so we encourage their current interests and expand their ideas to create new interests.
We have a weekly theme and incorporate all of our learning mediums into that theme. We often overlap these mediums, doing movement and singing, singing and sign language, reading and movement. We explore through art/sensory time, using different textures, colors, shapes, and tastes. Art can sometimes be a little messy, so we encourage you to dress your child in “play” clothes.
We also give the children group play time where they can choose the toys they would like to play with. Some of their choices include: books, cars, animals, people, babies, phones, blocks, dress up clothes, and puzzles.
Our room is a little different than the infant rooms in that our children sleep on cots, have circle time, play outside for a half hour in the morning and in the afternoon, eat together at the table, and go on occasional field trips. Some of the fieldtrips we have taken in the past have been to the pumpkin patch and Shatto Dairy Farm.
We look forward to having your child in our class room, learning about him/her and watching him/her learn. Please feel free to visit with me in person or on the phone at any time.
Sincerely,
Amy Croghan
